About the Windward Retreat Center

The Retreat center is located in Kaʻaʻawa, Hawaii, a small beach community in between mountains and beautiful white sand beaches located on the windward coast of Oahu. Ka`a`awa.   This scenic setting is 45-minute drive from Honolulu International Airport.

The grounds consist of over three acres of tropical rainforest surrounded by the Koʻolau Mountains, and just steps from a white sand beach offering amazing sunrises.

Enjoy the ocean

Ocean activities in and around Kaʻaʻawa are endless. The ocean offers everything from a playground for water sports to a place to connect and nurture the body, mind and spirit.

Just a three-minute walk from the center gets you to Swanzy Beach Park. Swanzy is a county beach park with a white sand beach and a large grass area that also offers picnic areas and camping.

A short stroll down the road gets you to Kaʻaʻawa Beach Park. It is a long area of white sand that is perfect for sunrise / sunset walks as it runs for about a mile. In some parts of this beach the sand is so fine it feels like powder between your toes, featuring turquoise waters and beatuiful palm trees.

Just a four-minute car ride away is Kahana State park. Kahana is an eight square mile park that runs from sea level up to mountains 2,500 feet high. The wide beach, surrounded by Ironwood trees that offers lots of shade, is a perfect beach to spend the day. Kahana is also a cultural park with fun hiking trails that go to an ancient 1400 year old Hawaiian fishpond along the ocean.

Savor the mountains

The Koʻolau Mountains, which run for over 30 miles along the coast of this part of Oʻahu, are the remains of a dormant volcano that collapsed and slid into the ocean hundreds of thousands of years ago.

Waterfalls, rain, and wind have worked together forming the deep crevasses in the slops and cliffs. Today the mountains provide amazing trails for hiking, bird watching, mountain biking, horseback riding, along with endless opportunities to explore nature’s beauty.

“This is not a dream…it’s a dream come true tai chi retreat. Once you land in Oahu, Hawai’i, you will be treated to an unforgettable island experience.”
